Interested in serving on USE’s Board?
The pillars of USE board service
To encourage meaningful and powerful engagement from each board member, we honor each person’s individual interests and skill sets. Below are three areas of board service we believe are needed and will help us achieve our mission. Each year, we ask each board member to select the pillars they will dedicate their time, resources, and energy toward. Our goal is to have all three areas represented well, while everyone feels strongly about their annual endeavors to support USE.
1. Fundraising/gaining monetary support:
Contributed income is essential for USE to fulfill our mission - to design, produce, and deliver quality programming. It’s how we ensure our artists are paid what they’re worth and how we create space that’s accessible to as many beneficiaries as possible. As a board member, you're not just a donor—you’re a champion for our artists and the people we serve. That means giving generously and fundraising actively throughout the year. Your support makes the work possible, and your advocacy ensures it thrives.
2. Providing Services/In-kind donations: time and expertise
An in-kind donation is a non-cash gift made to a nonprofit organization. They can be made in the form of time, services, expertise, or goods and recorded at their market value. USE depends on services from accounting to legal counsel to educational expertise in order to achieve our mission.
3. Capacity Building/Expanding our Network
Help us enhance the visibility of our organization so we can reach those who will best benefit from our programming. We are seeking to build partnerships in many ways, whether we collaborate this year or in the near future.
